Soccer film "Men of Hope" set for North American premiere at in-person screening, July 29

We’re back!

On Thursday, July 29, we will host our first in-person event in more than two years when we present the North American premiere of Men of Hope -- a new soccer documentary about the Afghanistan national team. The event will take place at the Westport Library in Westport, CT.

The film will also be available to stream for a limited time for those soccer-film fans who are unable to attend in person.

Film Overview:

Directed by Till Derenbach and Andreas Fröhlich, Men of Hope tells the story of Afghanistan’s dramatic, underdog quest to qualify for the Asian Cup.

It’s not an easy task. After all, being the Afghanistan national team manager was once called “the most dangerous job in the world of football."

But German-Croatian coach Petar Segrt believes in hope.

This is the story of his push to overcome the war, political squabbling, corruption, and history, and lead Afghanistan to the 2019 Asian Cup, the continental tournament for the Asian Football Confederation (i.e., Euros for Asia).
